seatrade cruise news

The Royal Caribbean Cruises and the Carnival Corporation have signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of Saint Lucia. They will work together to manage Castries' cruise pier, as well as design and build Vieux Fort's new cruise port. The new port can accommodate the largest cruise ships.

St. Lucia's beaches

There are many beaches available on St. Lucia. Many of them offer world-class diving. The tourist areas of the northwest and west shores are popular. However, the northeastern coast is less popular. These are more prone to rough Atlantic-driven waves.

Its cathedral

The Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception can be found in Derek Walcott Square, Castries, Saint Lucia. It is the seat of the Archbishop of Castries and is dedicated to the mother of Jesus, Mary. It is also known under the name Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception.

Its military ruin

Visit St Lucia's military ruins, an ex-colonial British colony in the Caribbean. Fort Rodney was built in the early 19th Century by the British and still boasts cannons reaching out to the ocean. It was an important strategic site for the British, and other European colonial countries.

Its mudbaths

A mud bath is a unique experience that helps you detoxify and relax. This is an unusual way to cleanse your body and can help with many conditions such as sunburns and sore joints. The average temperature of the St Lucia Mud Baths is between 38 and 42 degrees Celsius. These baths take place near the island’s sulfur springs.

Its adventure parks

St Lucia is home to many exciting attractions that will make you feel adrenaline-fueled. Ziplining through the rainforest is one option, as well as an aerial tram ride through it. From the air you can enjoy stunning views of the Pitons.

Its culture

Caribs, Arawaks, and other indigenous peoples were the first inhabitants of St. Lucia. These people inhabited the island long before Europeans arrived. The island was called the "Island of the Iguana" by the native people due to its large iguana populations. The island went through many hands over the 1800s. It was most prominently divided between the British and French. British influence can still been seen in the country’s architecture and language. The island was liberated from Great Britain after two centuries of British rule.
